"The Silence Is Broken" campaign is a powerful tool and resource to address the needs of a growing population of HIV/AIDS affected people to eradicate infection, create awareness, educate, and raise money to this end.

This song was performed for the first time on October 22, 2004 during the United States AIDS Conference in Philadelphia. It was well received. Renee Goldsberry from Ally McBeal, Nala in the Broadway production of The Lion King and currently starring in ABC’s One Life To Live delivered a poignant and emotional performance of The Silence Is Broken.

Patrick Gandy, producer and musical director, has worked with such great artists as Yolanda Adams, Stevie Wonder, Seal and James Ingram to name a few. He has composed and arranged music for the Emmy Awards, the People's Choice Awards, television commercials and motion pictures. He has lent his conducting skills to the 2002 GRAMMY¨ Award winning Dianne Reeves tribute recording to Sarah Vaughn entitled The Calling, as well as the National and Regional Tours of The Lion King, Aida, Dreamgirls, and Five Guys Named Moe.

Patrick's love and concern for his two teenage daughters has inspired him to compose a piece of music to help community based organizations raise money to honor their mission in the lives of people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. A portion of the funds are specifically earmarked for organizations supporting women of color.

Dr. Jim Kim, in addressing members of the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GBC) stated the following:

"In the US, we're treating everybody but infection rates among the poor Black and Hispanic youth are going up as quickly as some developing countries...In developed countries, I think we've completely taken our eye off the ball in terms of prevention. And I would say, in that case, the lack of leadership to push prevention in the face these small epidemics in focused communities is a major problem."

"If we think that HIV/Aids is someone else's problem, its time to think again. The Silence is Broken, speaks for every man, woman and child living in a world where HIV and AIDS exists. When I look into the beautiful faces of the next generations to enter that world I know its time to break the silence--we must be vigilant as a society to face, know, care and cure those impacted by this deadly disease," says Patrick Gandy, creator of The Silence is Broken.
